In the Europe we fight for, workers are free to stand for their rights through organizing collectively.

But in Mr. Mitsotakis’ Greece workers and unionists are detained before they even start protesting.

This is what happened today, when the police detained more than 20 members of a courier union, about to protest the vindictive termination of one of their colleagues, by a courier company.

It is not a surprise that a failing government would urgently resort to regurgitating pre-electoral dogmas, such as “Law & Order,” stirring the pot in order to steer the agenda away from looming social unrest.

But it is simply unacceptable for such authoritarian practices to be employed in an EU state.

It’s high time for them to go.
