In his short address at the GUE/NGL meeting, Kostas Arvanitis spoke of the assassination of Soleimani and the situation in the Middle East, after this latest display of USA imperialist interventionism.
“The Soleimani assassination by American forces is not an isolated event. Syria is burning, Erdogan is stirring up the situation in the Aegean and is becoming involved in Libya. This is a cause for grave concern about the M. East, but also the Meditteranean and Europe at large”, the MEP said.
Among others points, he recounted the position of the new EC President: “Mrs von der Leyen has been preparing us
for something she knew was coming and he had been suspecting: the further militarization of Europe, under the pretext of the situation in the M. East.”
In closing, he informed his colleagues on Greece’s official position and the matter, and Greek PM’s K. Mitsotakis worrying and unacceptable public endorsement of the Soleimani assassination.
